2019 Holiday Party
Food, Friends, and Karaoke!
Jan 24, 2019
On January 12th, The A-Team headed to Baltimore’s Hotel Revival for our 2019 holiday party. This year, we held the event at Topside, the hotel’s rooftop bar overlooking the Washington Monument in historic Mt. Vernon.
The venue’s casual yet stylish vibe was just right. Since we wanted everyone to feel comfortable, we didn’t have a dress code. Still, there’s always at least one tuxedo every year.
More importantly, it wouldn’t be an Asymmetrik party if there wasn’t good food! Topside’s delicious menu featured food and drink celebrating Maryland’s local cuisine, craft breweries, and distilleries.
For cocktail hour, we sampled duck spring rolls, local seafood, steak tartare, and yakitori. Next, we feasted on prime rib, roasted leg of lamb, crab cakes, roasted Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and whipped potatoes. The bartenders at Topside also crafted a signature drink, “The Farley”, an espresso vodka cocktail named after our black sheep mascot. Finally, for dessert – cupcakes!
After dinner, we drew a raffle for prizes including a Nintendo Switch, annual passes to the Maryland Zoo and Baltimore Aquarium, and a spa day at The Pearl Spa. But the real fun began when we found out that we have a talented singer among our ranks. As it turns out, Graphic Designer Isaac Brevil is an acapella whiz. Isaac entertained the crowd with a rendition of “My Girl” that had the whole room singing along! It was the highlight of the entire evening, for sure.
And speaking of singing, once the main party wrapped up at Topside, we headed downstairs to the karaoke rooms for an after party! We took over 3 karaoke rooms and had epic singalongs until the wee hours. Our team belted out dubious renditions of “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the Pokemon theme, and “Kiss from a Rose”. Since all that singing works up an appetite, we ordered pizzas for a midnight feast.
It was a great way to wrap up the holidays and usher in the new year. We’ve been growing pretty steadily (almost 100 employees now), and it was a fun way for everyone in the company to get to know one another. So, if questionable singing with your coworkers sounds like something you’d like to be a part of, check us out. Maybe we’ll see you at next year’s party!
